The Championship course is known by golfers throughout the world and was designed by the late Sir Henry Cotton. Many other courses have been opened since Penina, making this region famous for golf.
It is quite a flat course built on former rice paddies and scrubland. However, it is a very interesting course with many water hazards. Also, the fairways are surrounded by 250,000 trees, planted over the last few years.
The course has been enhanced over the years, and a visit to this region is not complete without a visit to Penina.
Location:
5 km west of Portimão on the EN.125 road, less than 1 km after the
turn-off to Alvor along the A22.
